Bye Bye Contour...Hello Highlights!
Contouring is so 2016. We can't believe we're saying that already, but alas it is true. Just after you thought you finally mastered the art of contouring and those selfies on Instagram showing off your perfection, it's time to shift gears into highlighting! And honestly, how gorgeous is this new trend?!
Highlighting could not come at a better time as Spring and Summer are rapidly approaching, welcoming that effortless "No makeup (but really tons of makeup) look." In a nutshell this new trend is simply referred to as "Strobing."
So what exactly is strobing? Strobing is all about illuminating (highlighting) the highest points on your face including your cheek bones, bridge of your nose, cupids bow, underneath your brow bone and on the inner corner of your eyes. Keep in mind that subtly is key as strobing is really meant to appear as though your skin is illuminating from within, creating a healthy glow.
Tip to make sure you're doing it correctly - look directly into a mirror. You should not see obvious signs of strobing until you tilt your head and catch your highlighted areas reflecting light. And then you'll feel that obvious reaction of "Damn, I am good. I need to share this on Instagram asap!!"
Most will thank Paris Fashion Week for really bringing this trend to life right now. But we have to say, does the phrase "That JLo-Glow" ring a bell? Even though this has been her signature look for years & there are many ways of achieving the "JLo Glow," JLo could hands down be the sole person to thank for inspiring this trend!
